“Let’s do something different,” she said, “why don’t you call Castello (ex baby-beach) and see if they have sushi, we haven’t had any for at least two years.”
Surprise Sushi Celebration
I called they did have such fresh salmon type on order, which I did, and we went. An overcast but hence beautiful resturant on the beach to ourselves. We splashed out on a single decent bottle of white to round the scenario off. When our wonderfully presented lunch arrived, I said this was so perfct we should be celebrating something. Wife agreed, we ponderd what for a bit, like what day is it exactly? For that mattter what date is it. This phenomenon is not unusual in our little valley, schedules have no meaning, and therefore time sort of gets lost as well.
“Hang on a second it’s June 7th, the day we got married eight years ago.” This gave us much joy to be celebrating for a reason neither of us had remembered. We only remember Jennifer’s birthday because it is 17 March, St. Paddy’s, and mine May first also an international holiday. Hell one year we knew it was around Christmas because of festive street and shop decorations, not the exact day. So no turkey, but a fairly good pork chop instead. That is just how we roll as they or somebody said. Slainte, cheers, giamas to all.

Okay so a couple of months behind April Fool, but contrary to a new Kamini rumour that I have gone into competition with Dole and Chiquita bananas super corporations, we are not associated with this new brand gracing the shelves of Dimitra’s supermarket. They pilfered my good name, and besides look around our valley; not exactly banana friendly culture wise.
Not trusted by at least 3, or is that 30 million visitors to date. Conceived in 1983, had to wait until it was invented in 1995 to launch internet on the island.
No charges for anything as we have nothing to offer, this sight, er site, is for sore eyes only, enter at your own risk. A roller coaster blog about life in the extremely slow lane. Have a grand late Spring.
Traffic Jam on the Kamini Highway
Fireworks, Flaming Judas, gunplay in traditional style, Greek Easter, Paska, was certainly the busiest in memory. In addition to the usual festivities, a long weekend was introduced to allow travel time as Protomayo (May 1 or May Day, the Greek Labor Day), fell on Easter Sunday and was thus moved to Tuesday, May 3, making for an extra-long long weekend. The cars at Metoxi opposite were parked for hundreds of meters up the access road and out onto the main road, and to boot, the first arrival of super cruise ship made it feel like Times Square at New Year. From tranquil little vehicle-less island one day to super celebration the next, human gridlock. The staff and folk in the catering businesses will probably have to put their feet up for a day or three.
Times they are a changing
Sunsets in Kamini Harbour are like finger prints or snowflakes, no two are exactly alike.
